Since December 2024 the HSA guidelines name the PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) course as the recognised standard for an occupational first aider. It replaced the old Occupational First Aid course. FAR is 18 hours over three days for a new first aider and 12 hours over two days to renew, and it is valid for two years.

Our courses, Cardiac First Response (CFR), First Aid Response (FAR), Emergency First Response (EFR) and Emergency First Aid (EFA), are PHECC accredited. We run them at your premises, and we keep the training record for you.

Trainers and training centres also buy their CPR manikins and training manuals here. AED trainers are in the Defibrillators branch, because they sit with the machines they copy.

Questions and answers

What first aid course does my workplace need?

For an occupational first aider, the HSA guidelines name the PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) course. How many first aiders you need is set by your risk assessment.

How long is a FAR course?

18 hours over three days for a new first aider, and 12 hours over two days to renew. It is valid for two years.

Can you train at our premises?

Yes. Tell us how many people and where, and we will come back with dates and a price.

Who can deliver PHECC courses?

Only PHECC Recognised Institutions or Approved Training Institutions. Our CFR, FAR, EFR and EFA courses are PHECC accredited.
